September 4, 2004 - Pleasant Hill, Iowa

The 4th Annual Scott Kiefer Have a Heart for Marfan Walk – Fun Run got the Pleasant Hill Labor Day Festival off to an early start on Saturday, September 4. Nearly 60 individuals enjoyed the beautiful, crisp morning air as they participated in a leisurely walk/jog along Pleasant Hill’s scenic bike trail to help raise awareness and funds for the Marfan syndrome. Participants were treated along the route to signs containing informative and humorous sayings about the Marfan syndrome.

Several area businesses and volunteers helped support the event, which raised over $3,000 for Emergency Room Awareness, Pediatric Awareness and Marfan Research. Following the Walk – Fun Run, several individuals participated in the Labor Day parade, where they tossed candy and t-shirts, and distributed literature on the Marfan syndrome.

Mark you calendars! The 2005 event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 3, 2005. If you would like to help with the event, please contact Teri Dean.
